Bobcat and Cougar Research
Check out this short video showing the interactions between a bobcat and her kitten. The actual birth site was under the redwood decking of this residence in Irvine. Bobcats living in urban areas will frequently select a concealed location that is relatively free from coyotes or other predators and your back yard may be chosen. They are very neat and leave little evidence of having ever been there and they will move on to another area as soon as the kittens are weaned and can show some life saving skills such as being able to climb a tree. The clearance under this deck was measured at only four inches. OC Trackers congratulates the residents involved for sharing this video and for allowing the animals the use of their yard for a few weeks.
